Nadia Lipes is a historian and a specialist in Jewish genealogy. She is extremely passionate about the subject and lives each story through. Nadia has great sense of intuition and instincts that help when researching seemingly hopeless cases, digging through data, facts and connecting it all into a puzzle that family biography is. However she can not only rely on her gut feeling – Nadia has a degree in Sociology which helps her analyze and systematize the data and give people a chance to find their roots.

Being a certified guide, Nadia has founded a school of Jewish guides touring all over Ukraine. She is also developing Jewish tourist routes all over the world.

Last years Nadia emerged as an active speaker at international Jewish Genealogy Conferences, as well as a Limmud’s lecturer on Jewish genealogy and history for wide audiences.

One of the topics Nadia is very interested in is anti-Semitic pogroms in Russian Empire between 1917 – 1921. She is creating a database of pogroms’ victims and writes fiction books and stories on this subject.

Nadia has been studying Jewish genealogy for over 10 years. As a result it became apparent that there is a need for a database containing all the sources (archives). The database became vital and without it – the further deep and extensive research would be impossible.

By that time Nadia has involved other members of the family, creating the family website “Lipes database”.

We – the Lipes family, decided to upload our database online in memory of our ancestors that were murdered in pogroms of 1919 and in memory of their grandson, nephew, son – our grandfather – Gersh Lipes, who pased away on the 8th of March 2015, in Akko.
